I was never that great with my money when I was younger and it wasn’t until I was in my 30s that I realised how little I knew. Working at BNZ, a colleague told me how she had helped many customers manage their money better and I asked her to help me.

That moment set me on this path. I realised if this ‘money management’ stuff wasn’t clear to me how many others was it not obvious to?

I set about writing practical programmes that seemed to resonate with people, taking topics in bite sized chunks and giving people the tools and resources to forge their own financial destiny. Over the years there have been so many wonderful success stories!

“More Than Money” was founded by Clementine Ludlow-Henare, an experienced professional in the field of financial wellbeing with over a decade of experience developing and delivering long-term financial capability behaviour change programmes to various workplaces and communities, including Māori and Pacific communities. Clementine is deeply committed to empowering individuals and whānau across the country with the knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions, from day-to-day spending to planning for the future.

Clem is a highly experienced facilitator and knowledgeable professional in the Financial Wellbeing sector, with a proven track record of success. She has held significant roles in leading organisations, including the Commission for Financial Capability (now Te Ara Ahunga Ora – Retirement Commission), BNZ, Westpac, and Good Shepherd NZ. Her extensive experience and expertise have given her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by households in New Zealand, particularly those that are financially strained.

Clem’s diverse background and unique life experiences have shaped her into a compassionate and empathetic leader. Born to British parents on the small Pacific atoll of Kiribati, she spent her early childhood in Tuvalu before relocating to the UK with her mother. However, her love for the Pacific drew her back at the age of 23, and she has been in New Zealand for over 25 years now.

Clem’s personal journey has included challenges such as a marriage breakup, being a single mother, and losing her mother to dementia. However, she has also experienced the joy of remarrying, raising a blended family and the fulfilment of running her own successful business.

With a passion for supporting whānau to achieve financial wellbeing and self-determination, Clem’s approach is grounded in her understanding of the complexities of life and her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

What people are saying about
Clem’s workshops

“She was very engaging and passionate about each session and it felt like she was on the journey with us which felt grounding and not like an expert lecturing us. It was more personal and she cared where people were up to in their journeys. No judgement was felt either on those of us that were just trying to learn about it.”

“Clem is great. She made easy access to serious topics, will, EPA etc. And she made us feel relax to share our own experiences (good or bad). And also provide good resources for us to learn.”

“Very good speaker and is very realistic. She got me out of my comfort zone to speak about my experiences to be able to gain the knowledge and information I need.”

“She was amazing. I found the classes really engaging and she is full of lots of knowledge. Really enjoyed coming along to the classes.”
